Daylon Wonder

Friday afternoon we got a call from the BMT clinic saying that Dr. Wagner (the head Dr.) needed to speak w/ us in an hour. We went over with both boys and they had their lab work redone (that was fun... Caleb was probably heard back in California!) and then we spoke with the Doctor. He said they wanted to replace the Pic line for a new Hickman on Monday and start him on anti-seizure medication. On Tues, he's due to start chemo, making the transplant land on the 24th! We're so excited to get the ball rolling! Several weeks, in fact, before we thought we would. Everything is pending though on the nasal swab that will tell whether or not he's carrying the para influenza bug still. We'll see!!

Tonight at dinner Daylon started to scream and when I picked him up to comfort him, we noticed that his eyes wouldn't open. Another corneal abrasion! Joy. The second one in six weeks. This time, thanks to Dr. Blumberg's office (Dr. Blumberg and Dr. Hill have been so great! Brooke (the nurse) is like an aunt to Daylon! ) we had the Vigamox (antibiotics) on hand and could apply it right away. I had to take him to the ER to have it checked and have numbing drops put in. He's cried and just been pitiful most of the night (it's supposed to be pretty painful), but thankfully the effects of corneal abrasions typically only last a few days. Until then, we have a little blind baby on our hands. Opening his eyes causes more pain, so he keeps those babies clamped! We were able to get him to smile at one point tonight and he started clapping. It was so stinkin' cute we had to share! We'll keep you all posted and let you know how Monday goes!
