Quick update

I traded out with Brian on Friday night and got back Saturday, so I wasn't able to post (laptop is at the hospital). Just a quick note to catch you all up...
Dr. Tolar and Dr. Stephanski (the attending on at the hospital right now) both thought that Monday is too soon for Daylon to go home. Brian and the kids are heading home as scheduled on the 20th, with the hopes that Daylon and I will be shortly behind them on the 23rd.
Daylon is off all of his drips but the blood pressure med. He had a sudden jump in vomiting again and blood pressure issues Friday night and Saturday day. He has to also be 48 hours without a fever and right now, he's almost at 24 hours. He's still vomiting old blood, but they feel it's appropriate given the JEB and intubation 6 days ago. Since his hemoglobin is stable (meaning there probably isn't internal bleeding), I'm not worrying too much.
I really want Daylon to be healthy for Christmas, but there's no rushing this sort of thing. The most important thing is that he gets better. The thought of not being with my other kids on Christmas is heart wrenching, especially because I've had to bail on them so many times the last 17 months, but hopefully I can make it up to them once we get back to CA. The best part is that we have another year with Daylon. This time last year I was praying he would last until Christmas so we could have at least one Christmas as a complete family here on Earth and look! we're getting a chance to have two! We've been so blessed.
I'll post more later (with pictures) either today or tomorrow, once things calm down. I hope you all are enjoying this Christmas season!

We continue to pray for speedy healing for Daylon so you can all be together for the Christmas holiday. Jennifer, kids are SO resilient. I know you feel like you've bailed and let down your other kids many times during this, but they KNOW how much you love them and I'm betting you've already made it up to them and you don't even realize it. God Bless you, you're a WONDERFUL mommy! SEE you soon!

I'm glad to hear how well Daylon is doing but I'm sorry that he is still having vomiting and BP issues. Hopefully his fever is over. You are right, you can't rush his recovery. I started crying when you talked about this time last year you were just praying that he would survive thru Christmas so that you could have one Christmas as a family here on Earth. I can't even imagine being in your position. I look at my kids and I am so thankful that I have two healthy children but my heart breaks for you guys. However, Daylon is getting better slowly but surely and soon he will be home with you guys for good. Lots of prayers coming your way for Daylon to get better quickly and that you ALL can be TOGETHER for Christmas. Hey, just because Christmas is Dec. 25th on the calender doesn't mean that it has to be for your family. Christmas can be any day of the year!! Stay strong.

Lots of Love,
Amber McLaughlin, CA

I agree with a previous comment, the 25th is just a date, Christmas can be whenever you want it to be. With everything Daylon has gone through in his short life, Christmas is every day since his being here is a gift. I'm sorry that you aren't able to travel back with the rest of your family on Monday. I truly hope you are able to follow soon behind. Keeping all of you in my thoughts.

Sad to hear about the vomiting but glad that there isn't evidence of bleeding. It sounds like Daylon is healing and I'll be hoping you're able to bring him home this week!

I am glad you are taking this so well. I had hoped he would be ready. But, of course it is better for him to be ready.

Hugs,

Cheryl

So sad you all can't leave for Californis together but you have to do what is good for Daylon. Please don't beat yourself up about not all being together. I agree with everyone else about Dec 25th being a day on the calendar....you will have lots of Dec 25th's in the future with a healthy Superman. You have all come a long way since this time last year. GOd bless you all and keep you in His Love and Mercy.

Love you guys, wherever you are! Miles can't separate a family like yours. It's a pretty convincing illusion, but it's just that. There are families this Christmas who will be sitting at the same table and will not be as close as you are to your family even if you may still be in MN and they in CA. Still, I hope you can make it back if it woks out. Much love, the Ringgolds

Jennifer, I am going to be praying you through today and throughout the time the family is split between MN and CA - I cannot imagine how this feels for you but so glad to see the decision being made. It will be exciting to watch God as He works through it all for your family.

I continue to pray for your amazing little man - he is one cute kid who has stolen my heart.

Isn't it comforting to know that God is in control and exciting to watch Him use the docs, nurses, etc to bring about Daylon's miracle!

Dear Jenn; We are praying for Baby Daylon and hope that you and him will be able to come home on the 23rd for Christmas. You are such a wonderful Mom and your other kids understand and you are not bailing on them, they want for Baby Daylon to get well and all of you to be together as a family. It is so hard to have to be separated at this time of year, but the love and caring you and Brian have for all your children and family really shines through. It is shinier than the brightest star in the heavens. You are true angels and servants of your Heavenly Father. You all have Baby Daylon for another Christmas and this is a great gift and a real blessing. It is great to know God is in control and that he can work wonders and miracles. Daylon is a Christmas Miracle for all. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Things will work out for the best and Baby Daylon will continue to progress, he is such a Superman Hero, what a strong and beautiful son. All your other children are so beautiful also, of course they have to be, look at their beautiful Mommy and Daddy. You are such and inspiration, loving and carindg person. Can't wait to see you when you do get back to CA. We will see the other kids before Christmas, to just drop off a few things for them for Christmas. We love them so much, they are very special to us. Hope it still works out that you and Daylon will be able to come on the 23rd.
Hang in there and Fight, Fight Baby Daylon, you have such wonderful parents that love and care for you all the time. You are in our hearts and prayers and WE Hope You Have a Merry Christmas and a specially healthy and Happy New Year.
Take Care and We Love You. Hope to see you real soon.

All Our Love;

Still praying today and always for Daylon and your family. We celebrated Christmas late a few years ago because my Grandfather was in the hospital and we decided that the 25th didn't matter- it was the family that made it Christmas. So, I think you should celebrate Christmas on whichever day you get to bring Daylon home, because bringing him home healthy is the best gift I can think of!
God bless-
Chris

i'm so happy to hear daylon's doing better! it's a bummer that you can't all go home on the 20th, but it is TOTALLY OK to go some days later.

Keep fighting and improving, Daylon, your EB friends are here to see you through.

love and hugs

Just stopping by to wish you all a Merry Christmas. You are never far from my thoughts and I've been thinking today about all the blessings in our lives that we aren't aware of... that escape our notice. But, that if we knew we would fall to our knees in thanks. I know that I'm blessed in some way every day and that we all are. So tonight I'm giving thanks for the miracles and blessings in Daylon's life that we aren't aware of. Those little things that make all the difference, but are overlooked. I'm giving thanks for Heavenly Father's care of Daylon, through his doctors and parents and friends and angels that run around this earth pretending to be humans. Merry Christmas to Daylon and all those he loves and that love him!

I'm praying that 2011 is a banner year for Daylon where he continues to battle and fight with all he's got! He is an amazing little guy!
